Shine a light on winter skin

With the days getting shorter and nights getting longer, it’s easy to fall into thinking that you no longer need to wear sunscreen, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Even in winter, skin can still suffer from sunburn and UV damage.  And what’s worse? You might not even be aware that it’s happening.

Every minute out in the sun matters to your skin. Your daily run in the park at lunch? Taking the dog for a walk? Playing with the kids at the park? If the day is sunny when you are outside doing any of these activities and plenty more, you are risking sun damage on your skin. Experts agree that one in five people will get skin cancer in their lifetime, and 90% of skin damage occurs from sun exposure. Given how easy it is to stay protected, the effort put into remembering sun protection well outweighs the effort of doing it.

In particular, winter sports are a prime time for people to forget wearing sunscreen, but need it almost as much as when they are sitting by the sea or pool.  Up on the slopes, the air is thinner, and you are physically closer to the sun, which means UV rays are also closer to your skin.  Applying an SPF 30 sunscreen before you head out for a day of skiing or snowboarding should add only minutes to your normal routine, and make a huge difference in the long term health and beauty of your skin.

For complete protection, consider a cocktail of treatments for your skin this winter.

  • Always wear sunscreen, every single day, and use high-sun protection if you are a skier, such as Zo® Skin Health Oclipse® Daily Sheer SPF 50. So light and weightless, you won’t even know you are wearing it.

  • Keep skin hydrated.  At Norah Clair, we are in love with Ommerse® Renewal Cream for day, and Ommerse® Overnight Recovery Crème for night time.

  • Invest in a skin treatment such as IPL (Intense Pulse Light) or Microneedling, which can help reduce the appearance of dark spots and skin discoloration, as well as help improve the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and increase skin firmness.

Here at Norah Clair, we offer expert skin rejuvenation services including IPL and microneedling, as well as injectables, lasers, and other treatments. We also sell Zo Skin Health and Zo Medical products and can help guide you on the best products for your particular skin concerns, as well as set you up with a skincare regimen that will fit your lifestyle and needs.

To find out more about our treatments or ZO Skin products, give us a call or set up your complimentary consultation with me, Norah Clair, today.
