How Fillers Work

Along with a smooth, wrinkle-free complexion, plumpness, firmness, and tautness are other hallmarks of youthful skin.

As we age, elastin, collagen, fat, hyaluronic acid, and bone density diminish, leaving the skin looking thin, hollow, and saggy, especially around the temples, cheeks, lips, and jawline.

Dermal fillers revive fullness and return cushion and firmness to areas of the skin that have become loose, hollow, or sagging due to age, environmental damage, heredity, and lifestyle choices.

Juvéderm®, The RHA® Collection, and Restylane® are non-surgical hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers used to smooth lines and restore volume for dynamic wrinkles and folds. HA fillers help restore moisture, volume, and the natural structure of HA.

Also known as the “liquid facelift,” Sculptra® is a biostimulator that fills in lines and wrinkles and stimulates your body to produce new collagen and underlying tissue. It achieves excellent results as a global volumizer of the face.

Dermal and Volumizing Fillers are used to treat a variety of areas on the face and sometimes other parts of the body.

Here are the common areas:

  • Cheeks: To restore volume and create a more youthful contour.

  • Nasolabial folds: Lines running from the nose to the mouth, also known as smile lines.

  • Lips: For augmentation, define the lip border and smooth out vertical lip lines.

  • Marionette lines: Lines running downward from the corners of the mouth.

  • Under-eye area: To treat hollows or tear troughs, reducing the appearance of dark circles and bags.

  • Jawline: To enhance the definition and contour of the jawline.

  • Chin: This is for chin augmentation and to improve the profile.

  • Temples: To restore the volume lost in the temples, which can create a hollow appearance.

  • Hands: To restore volume and reduce the appearance of veins and tendons.

Procedure & Recovery Information

Ice and a local anesthetic may be applied to ease comfort during dermal filler injection.

Results may be seen immediately. However, healing typically takes two weeks. To reduce the risk of bruising, avoid alcohol and blood thinners (ibuprofen, aspirin, certain supplements) 48 hours before and after your treatment.

Results may last from six months to two years, depending on the treatment.

Additional treatment details will be reviewed during your comprehensive consultation.
